Experience: Jeff Davis was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan from 1995 to 2011, where he prosecuted a wide variety of crimes committed in Indian Country and served as the liaison between the office and 11 federally recognized tribes. He also taught federal Indian law as an adjunct professor at Detroit Mercy School of Law. Prior to joining the DOJ, Mr. Davis was an associate attorney with Boulder-based Greene, Meyer & McElroy, P.C., a law firm that represented Indian tribes throughout the U.S. on issues ranging from gaming and water rights litigation to recognition and protection of Tribal treaty rights. Early in his career Mr. Davis worked on a contract basis for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for New Mexico on water adjudication for the tribes in that district. He grew up in North Dakota on the reservation of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and is an enrolled member of the tribe.
