Experience: The Honorable Stephanie Herseth Sandlin represented the state of South Dakota for four terms in the House of Representatives, where she served on the Agriculture Committee, Natural Resources Committee, and Veterans’ Affairs Committee as well as the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. While in Congress, she introduced and championed the Tribal Law and Order Act. Ms. Sandlin was executive director of the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation and was a clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota. She is currently a member of the board of directors of South Dakota State University Innovation Campus.
