You are invited to a special welcome for Dr. Nancy Marie Mithlo and Dr. Stephanie Gilbert! Come and meet our visiting scholars and learn about their research.
Dr. Nancy Marie Mithlo
Nancy Marie Mithlo, Ph.D. is a visual anthropologist and a curator of contemporary American Indian arts. As a Visiting Scholar with UCLA IAC AISC, she will be completing her manuscript titled “A/part of this World: Indigenous Art at the Venice Biennale 1999-2017.†Her welcome talk will include a discussion of the 2017 Venice Biennale exhibit Wah.shka, featuring the artists Marcella Ernest, Shan Goshorn and Keli Mashburn. Dr. Mithlo will also be joining UCLA as an incoming faculty member in the Department of Gender Studies starting July 2018.

Dr. Stephanie Gilbert
Dr. Gilbert is an Associate Professor, Coordinator Teaching Quality and Development at The Wollotuka Institute in the University of Newcastle, Australia. A Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Gilbert will be using her Fulbright Scholarship in the United States to examine the possibility that trauma can become embedded in our bodies in such a way it can be transmitted across generations.
