The American Indian graduation ceremony includes honoring bachelor’s degree candidates, doctoral candidates, professional degree candidates as well as Master’s candidates in the American Indian Studies program with Pendleton blankets. This practice symbolizes the collective reaffirmation to our students that higher education is an invaluable goal and an attainable accomplishment, strengthening not only the individual but the larger American Indian Community. This year we will purchase 14 blankets and we hope that you will again join us in supporting the academic success of all our students with a generous donation. Checks should be made payable to the UC Regents (with “Blanket Fund” in the memo line) and forwarded to me at the UCLA American Indian Studies Center (Attn: Clementine), 3220 Campbell Hall, Box 951548, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1548. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments: clembordeaux@amindian.ucla.edu or call my office at (310)825-6541. |
